COST: $$
TIME OF THE YEAR: Spring (March)
DETAILS:
Recommend renting a car to cover everything.
Alamere Falls is a LONG hike, so be prepared. It is also a bumpy dirt road to get there and gets packed with cars, so arrive early. On the hike to Alamere Falls there is an abrupt small path through the bushes that cuts a lot of time off your hike and it is sometimes marked by rocks in the shape of an arrow. You will have to hike down a steep cliff face to get to the bottom. It is dangerous, especially with all the crowds trying to get up and down in the narrow pathway. If you don’t want to go this way you can make it all the way to Wildcat camp and walk a mile back on the beach.
Bring layers because it is sometimes cold and foggy and sometime hot and sunny.
Wear sunscreen even if the clouds are covering
Park at the bottom of the hill at Battery Spencer and walk up to the view.
The cable cars get crowded so get to the stops early or start at the beginning of the routes
The fog is unpredictable to don’t be surprised if the fog blocks a great photo op. You may have to shift your plans and come back later. There is a good chance the fog will clear at different times of the day.
It is a city and there is traffic. Use a navigation app if you can so you can see the most efficient routes.
